Amey, one of the UK’s leading public and regulated services providers, has successfully secured an extension until 2020, for their Network Maintenance Alliance contract with United Utilities.
The contract, which is worth £225m, will see Amey help to maintain over 76,000km of sewer pipe, 42,000km of clean water infrastructure, private sewers, manage water diversions and carry out network enhancements for a further five years on behalf of United Utilities.
The services provided are critical for maintaining the clean and waste water infrastructure that serve approximately seven million people and 200,000 businesses in the North West.
Amey recently acquired Enterprise plc who originally held the contract since 2009 and the contract extension will draw on the key successes over the lifetime of the contract including:
- Customer service improvements – Amey has supported United Utilities to become the most improved water and waste water company by way of reduced complaints and improvements in scores
- Improved health and safety record - Year on year reduction in Accident frequency rate, RIDDORs and lost time incidents
- Enhanced cost efficiencies - Innovative ways of working and process improvements has led to year on year cost savings.

The contract award comes at the end of a successful year that has seen Amey pick up seven major highways contracts with Gloucestershire County Council, Liverpool City Council, Transport Scotland, the New South Wales state government agency in Australia, the Queensland Government Department in Australia and ASC 6 and ASC 8 with Highways Agency. Deals have also been secured with Welsh Water to repair and maintain around 20,000 km of clean water pipes and install meters across South Wales, and with Severn Trent Water.
AMEY ACHIEVES £190M EXTENSION WITH SEVERN TRENT WATER
Amey, one of the UK’s leading public and regulated services providers, has successfully secured a £190m, five-year contract extension with Severn Trent Water to deliver clean and waste water services to over 4.2 million households and businesses.
Under the contract, Amey will be responsible for carrying out clean water mains renewal and maintenance, as well as delivering sewer upgrades, flood alleviation projects and installing new or refurbishing existing pumping stations.
Amey - which acquired Enterprise earlier this year - has been working collaboratively with Severn Trent Water for 12 years.

The contract extension comes just weeks after the company secured contracts Northern Gas Networks and Welsh Water.
Following Amey’s acquisition of Enterprise earlier this year, the company has combined Enterprise’s utilities knowledge and experience in service delivery with Amey’s asset management capability to offer best value end-to-end services.
