Amey, the company that keeps Heathrow Express stations clean and tidy, has collected a prestigious award from the Airport Operators Association (AOA).

Amey picked up the AOA Best Business Partner Award at a glittering event held at the Hilton London Metropole this week.  This was for delivering a major construction project at the Heathrow Express station in Terminal 5 without it being visible to passengers or having any impact on them.

Amey provides facilities management services for all Heathrow Express stations. It worked closely with its supply chain partners to replace 144 large glass floor panels on three floors, working only at night and using innovative scaffolding that was painted to look like it was part of the building.

George Thomson, Amey account director said, “With our supply chain we achieved what many people thought was impossible – the invisible delivery of a major construction project in a busy public area.  Establishing a hands-on, collaborative management style with our project partners was the key to delivering this to brief and on budget.  It’s a real honour to have this project recognised by the AOA.”

Kieran Tully, project manager for Heathrow Express said, “Amey’s partnership ethos meant they were able to work effectively and collaboratively with their supply chain to achieve continual improvements at all stages of delivery, with great success all round.”

Heathrow Express carries more than 16,000 passengers every day between Paddington and Heathrow Terminals 1, 2, 4 and 5.  Amey provides cleaning and maintenance services in both the public areas and behind the scenes at all Heathrow Express stations.

The AOA Awards recognise the achievements of AOA members and were presented during the association’s Annual Conference Dinner.  For more information and details of other award winners please visit www.aoa.org.uk.
