Last weekend, July 24th & 25th, Amey attended the Birmingham Futures event, a free jobs fair aimed at helping workers made redundant in the area to get advice and find new employment.

We were present at the event to highlight the number of different opportunities available to the people of Birmingham within Amey. We had over 100 jobs (out of a total of 500 featured at the event), covering 36 different job titles, and we were the only private sector organisation at the event. Roles offered covered areas such as the management of New Street Station, the M42 and Walsall Street Lighting.

Although around 500 people were expected to attend, interest in the event grew to such an extent that numbers exceeded 1,000 in the first hour alone and 3,000 overall.

Mel Ewell, Chief Executive, was interviewed by the BBC regarding Amey opportunities in and around Birmingham, and praised the high calibre of candidates at the event.

Amey currently employs around 1,000 people in the region and we have recruited over 400 people so far this year. With 95 live vacancies today and around an additional 35-40 expected in the next month or so, Amey is in a position of growth not only in the West Midlands but across the business.
