Amey appoints two new Business Managers for its growing Rail consultancy

Richard Shackell has been appointed as Amey’s Business Manager for Signalling and will be responsible for progression of the railway signalling design activities undertaken through Amey's Bristol, Birmingham and York offices.

Richard has more than 23 years experience in the rail industry and has been involved in a number of major railway projects, including Crossrail, Thameslink East London Line Upgrade and Jubilee Northern Line Upgrade, working with major clients such as DfT, Network Rail, TfL, Metronet and Tube Lines. Richard’s previous roles included Business Unit Director with Mouchel Rail and Associate Director with Mott Macdonald.

Andy McFarlane has been appointed as Amey’s Business Manager for Electrification and Plant, and will focus on developing Amey’s E & P consultancy services nationally and internationally. Andy has served in the RAF for 24 years and joins Amey from the MOD’s centre of excellence for Strategic and Operational level Doctrine and Concepts, where he was a Senior Manager (Wing Commander).

His previous roles include Operations Director (Wing Commander) at the headquarters for all RAF large aircraft fleets, providing strategic guidance and governance for all aspects of operations, and President of the Board of Inquiry for the loss of C-130K Hercules, working from Afghanistan and the UK.
