The Highways Agency has confirmed that AmeyMouchel has been awarded the management and maintenance contract for Area 13 (Lancashire and Cumbria) until 2010.

AmeyMouchel, a strategic alliance between two of the UK’s leading support services companies, was first awarded the Highways Agency contract in 2003. The original agreement was for five years, from 1st July 2003 to 30th June 2008. Based on sustained high performance over the last three and a half years, the AmeyMouchel contract has been extended by a further two years until 30 June 2010. The anticipated annual value of the contract is approximately £30 million.

Bob Baldwin, Area 13 performance manager for the Highways Agency, commented: “Fundamental to the award of the extension was the high quality of service and value for money provided by AmeyMouchel in the first three and a half years of the contract. This is a testament to the commitment and dedication of the staff involved within AmeyMouchel and its supply chain.”

Speaking on behalf of AmeyMouchel, Mel Ewell, chief executive of Amey, concludes: “I am very pleased that we have been awarded this contract extension. This is very much due to the success of working as one team with our customers to ensure a smooth and safe journey for the public.”
