Amey’s Owen Williams business stream today announced it has won a contract to provide outline design development work on the £200m Bletchley Milton Keynes Remodelling and Resignalling project.
This section of the route will address the planned Milton Keynes population growth of 80 percent by 2031 by increasing train capacity at Milton Keynes Central Station. One of the key drivers for this scheme is the decision by the Department for Communities and Local Government (formerly Office of the Deputy Prime Minister) to increase the number of homes in the South East of England.
Owen Williams will be providing designs for permanent way, bridges and platforms, overhead line, earthworks, all structures, foundations, mechanical and electrical engineering design, and power solutions. The project is due for completion at Milton Keynes in December 2008, and at Bletchley in August 2010.
Since 1998, Owen Williams, part of Amey plc, has been involved in the West Coast Main Line project, responsible for the optioneering, feasibility and design of a number of works to increase capacity and allow 125mph trains through Nuneaton station.

Owen Williams has been working with Network Rail for the last 12 months on the preliminary stages of this project and we are pleased to be offering a complete end-to-end service having been awarded this recent contract.”
Owen Williams will also be providing a core team of senior engineering personnel, project management staff and specialists to work alongside the Network Rail Development Team.
