The Amey Rail Training Centre in Swindon has received Institute of Rail Welding accreditation, one of only three organisations to have received the award, and Amey Rail’s Phil Beckett and Lee Janczyszyn are now registered as Institute of Rail Welding trainers. Phil and Lee had to complete written and practical exams and received their certificates at an Institute of Rail Welding meeting in Derby. The centre can now provide training in rail welding, track safety, track induction and signals and telecomms, as well as various safety courses, including emergency first aid and manual handling.
