Why did you choose Amey?
Amey works in a variety of fields and locations. As a growing company, its ambitions are in line with my own. I could also see a commitment to career progression.

What is the most satisfying aspect of your role?
I love being able to face new challenges on a regular basis. Solving complex problems is very rewarding. It’s also very satisfying to see your work benefiting others.

How has your training/professional development matched your expectations?
From day one I’ve been supported in everything I do. My mentor has encouraged me and pushed me when I’ve needed it, as well as helping me to develop my technical abilities. Greater experience has led to new opportunities and challenges.

How has your training/professional development been tailored to your needs?
The Graduate Engineers Programme is very flexible and allows you to progress at a pace that works for you. Chartership is the end goal for all engineers, but there are many different routes you can take to get there.

What kinds of projects have you worked on?
The commercial department gave me a good understanding of the processes involved in the lifecycle of a project. Working as project director on a multi-million pound project developed my technical skills and also taught me how to manage a multi-disciplinary team of designers and project managers.

How does your work challenge you?
Learning on the job is a continuous process of acquiring and applying new skills and knowledge. There are always opportunities for you to develop and grow, personally as well as professionally.

What are your goals over the next few years?
I want to continue to develop my skills and achieve ICE chartered status. I’m also looking forward to having more responsibility on bigger and more complex projects.
Chartership is the end goal for all engineers, but there are many different routes you can take to get there.
