Glasgow schools facilities management contract. Amey has led the way in making PFI projects work for local government clients.

The Glasgow schools contract was Amey’s first PFI project in the education sector. Eight years on, it’s become the benchmark for success.

The contract came about through Glasgow City Council’s desire to improve local schools. It wanted modern, well-managed facilities that could also provide wider benefits through evening and weekend use.

Amey provides maintenance, cleaning and facilities management for 29 high schools and one primary school in the city. Together the 12 new-build and 17 refurbished buildings accommodate over 32,000 pupils.

We ensure that the students can focus on their education without distraction. Our cleaners and janitors maintain the school environment. Our facilities managers run each estate to maximise its value to both the school and the local community.

Appropriately for a learning environment, we’re always trying to improve the service we provide. Classrooms have been networked to allow modern learning. We’re also training our janitors to resolve more issues at source for greater service continuity.

Amey’s contract with Glasgow City Council runs for 30 years. We’re already well on the way to achieving its long-term ambitions.
