Highways

Amey provides highways related services to both local and Central Government, offering design, management, and ongoing maintenance work. We have local authority contracts UK-wide, including the £2.7bn Birmingham highways PFI. We are also a significant supplier of services to the UK motorway and trunk road network, and we are the sole provider to the Highways Agency on Area 9 – the motorway network around Birmingham. This is one of the busiest parts of the road network in the country, carrying around 3 million vehicles every day.

Bedfordshire Highways

Since April 2009 following the unitary status decision, Amey has worked together with Bedford Borough Council and Central Bedfordshire Council as a unified team known as “Bedfordshire Highways”.


Calderdale Highways

This Highways Term Maintenance Contract sees Amey working in partnership to deliver highways services, street lighting and winter maintenance across the 1090 km road network within the Calderdale Metropolitan Borough.


Cumbria Highways

Amey is working with the County Council and its consultant in a three-way strategic partnership. This innovative, client-led relationship delivers significant financial savings for the Council, with excellent services and economic benefits for the local communities.


Halton Highways

The six year contract sees Amey working in partnership with Halton Borough Council to deliver routine, reactive, and proactive highway work, programmed highway maintenance and improvement, and integrated transport schemes; across the network.


Hampshire Highways

Working in partnership with Hampshire County Council, Amey deliver all aspects of road and footway maintenance to over 9,000 km of Hampshire’s road network.


Herefordshire Highways MAC

Amey worked with Herefordshire Council to renegotiate the contract in order to deliver a more integrated, effective, and efficient approach, without the need for an expensive re-procurement exercise.


Hertfordshire Highways

Hertfordshire Highways is a three-way alliance between Hertfordshire County Council, their design consultancy, Mouchel, and their works contractor, AmeyLafarge. The alliance commenced in 2002 to run for seven to 10 years.


Highways Agency Area 9 MAC

In July 2009, Amey began working in partnership with the Highways Agency on Area 9, as the MAC (Managing Agent Contractor) contract in Area 9 across the West Midlands.


Northern Ireland Roads Service

Amey’s services include highways and transport design, together with CDM construction and supervisory services for Northern Ireland’s roads, bridges and footways.


Plymouth Highways MAC

Amey commenced delivery of Plymouth City Council’s highways MAC contract in December 2008 and provide a full range of highways design, maintenance and management activities.


Scottish Trunk Roads Unit (STRU)

Amey manage and maintain the motorways and trunk roads in South West Scotland on behalf of Transport Scotland, which includes some of the country’s busiest strategic arteries as well as Erskine and Kingston bridges.


Transport for London

In April 2007 Amey commenced a £240 million contract for Transport for London (TfL) to provide highway maintenance and improvements across north London. The contract, employing around 250 people, is initially for six years, with annual extensions up to ten years.


West Midlands TechMAC

Amey is responsible for managing, maintaining, renewing and improving the technological assets for the West Midlands Technology Managing Agent Contractor contract.
