Amey’s third generation contract to manage and maintain Scotland’s South West trunk roads and motorways, commenced on 1 April 2006. It covers some of the most important traffic arteries in Scotland, including the A77 and the M8 in Glasgow.
Service delivery across all aspects of this contract, which covers almost 1035km of trunk roads and motorways, involves close liaison with many stakeholders including the police, media, road user groups, local authorities and road users themselves.
There is a 24/7 in-house media and communications team that work with news desks and reporters. This service also ensures that the travelling public can make informed journey decisions and to help encourage positive attitudes towards road works and road worker safety.
Although our works are planned in advance, we have a 24/7 operational control room and Trunk Roads Incident Support Units (TRISS) to assist road users and respond to unplanned activities, such as emergency repairs following accidents and extreme weather. Our team ensures the safety and reliability of the network for the benefit of users.
We work closely with Transport Scotland to ensure that we, provide Scotland with a safe and integrated transport network at a high standard, which ensures we keep the travelling public on the move. And we continuously strive to develop innovative solutions to reduce congestion and improve journeys.
We are committed to improving our assets, by investing in all our resources, particularly our people and our plant, to help us achieve our contract terms and more.
