Community

Everything we do affects communities across the UK. So our people strive to provide a level of service that does more than get the job done; it improves people’s daily lives for the long-term. Core to the way we do business is providing leadership and a spirit of partnership that enables communities to develop and thrive.

We engage with local residents to make a positive, sustainable impact in areas of social and economic concern such as long-term unemployment, crime and deprivation. We run back-to-work programmes, support local youth sports teams and develop relationships with citizen organisations.

Our policy is to align our community involvement with our core business activities; seeking where possible to integrate added value community benefits into our service.

In 2007 Business in the Community (BITC) produced their inaugural Community Index. Participation in the Index, in which we received a Bronze ranking, has allowed us to better understand and benchmark our performance in this area.
