Chris Fenton is Managing Director of Tube Services. He joined the business in June 2006 after working in both B2B services and manufacturing. He has a track record of driving sales and regenerating under-managed and under-invested businesses into successful, profit-making companies.
Chris began his career at Courtaulds plc, a multi-billion pound chemicals and coatings business. After working in materials technology assessment in the UK he spent two years working on a greenfield start-up project in the USA. Returning to the UK, he was appointed a divisional Finance Director before becoming Managing Director of Chemicals, and then Commercial Director for International Plant, where he led a major change program.
Chris then moved to Sud Chemie AG, a multi-national German chemical company. As the Managing Director for the UK subsidiary, he led a major culture change that delivered a more team focused and quality orientated organisation, as well as improving business processes and driving sales that resulted in record profits.
In 2003 he joined BSI as MD for a global 24/7 B2B service business providing independent testing and inspection of traded commodities. He successfully returned the business to profit, restructured the management team, implemented a strategic review and established new laboratories worldwide, before leading a successful disposal.
Within Amey, Chris has rejuvenated the businesses for Facilities and Property Management, setting a clear strategic direction, rebuilding the management team and securing major bid wins.
Chris believes that applying experience from a broad range of industries and functions, combined with a passion for customer service will always lead to business success.
Chris was educated at St John’s College, Cambridge, receiving a 1st Class Honours in Materials Science MA. He then completed a Master of Business Administration at Manchester Business School.
During his spare time he enjoys skiing and tennis.
